We are looking for: Senior Appraiser, II to join our Central Valley team! Location for this role is flexible for candidates in Turlock, Stockton, Merced, Oakdale, or Salinas.


The Senior Appraiser II is the highest journeyperson level and competently undertakes appraisal assignments of all property use-types, including facilities, common to the market area served. This position also becomes a valued consultant on a majority of appraisal issues. Continuing education becomes more specific in nature as the person may be considered an expert on a specific property type or operation (i.e. conservation easements, leased fee, leasehold, unique and complex facilities, etc.) and expert witness testimony.

A person in this position may have an expanded role in directing and managing a particular area or process. This may include being accountable for mentoring, training and supervising junior staff. However management responsibilities are not a required criteria to hold a Senior Appraiser II title.

The Senior Appraiser II may have extensive experience/knowledge on large, complex or unique property types or operations such as wineries, feed yards, dairies, custom feeding operations, permanent plantings, etc.  This knowledge is integral to AAC conducting business within a particular market segment or commodity type.

This person may have a portfolio of chattel accounts, and will be required to inspect, reconcile and value chattels on large complex or unique operations. The Senior Appraiser II will provide an audit function to the chattel process and observe and report on management capabilities. 

The Senior Appraiser II reports to management as directed.  Additionally, they will provide consulting service to Lending staff on collateral issues as necessary. Completes appraisal reviews of in-house staff as directed.

1) Can competently complete large and complex chattel and real property assignments with autonomy and reliability;

2) Capable of being a lead appraiser on large appraisal/chattel assignments which may involve collaboration with senior credit staff.  Coordinates with appraisal staff to assure the resources needed are obtained to assure the assignment is done efficiently and to the satisfaction of all concerned.

3) Prepares appraisals on complex real property and chattel assignments that may involve pledged collateral for large or complex loans, specialized or highly improved properties, loans in litigation, foreclosure or bankruptcy, and acquired properties.

4) Conduct appraisals of real property to determine value using cost, sales comparison, and income approaches.  Determine, analyze and apply the appropriate valuation approaches.

5) Inspects, reconciles and values chattels on large and complex operations.  Review/Audit customer records for accuracy and timeliness.  Observe and report on management capabilities.

6)  Works with lending management, AOS and other appraisers to prioritize appraisal assignments and manage appraiser schedules to assure assignments are completed in the most efficient manner.

7) Searches, confirms, analyzes and archives market sales and rental information from a variety of sources. Has established relationships with realtors and others in order to obtain documentation and verification of the sales and other market data.

8) Establish and maintain good customer relations by providing ongoing communication, coordination, and timely assistance throughout the appraisal process and during any non-valuation assignment.

9) Completes due diligence reviews on both chattel and real property appraisal assignments.

10) Prepares appraisals for outside fee customers

11) Completes appraisals outside the region as directed

12) Perform other non-valuation functions that may be assigned.

1) Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or other related field is preferred.

2) Must have obtained a Certified General Appraiser License, and is in compliance with the continuing education requirements for certification as established by the Appraisal Foundation and approved by the appropriate state appraisal boards

3) Advanced level chattel appraisal experience and a professional designation is preferred. 

4) Must have or be in the process of obtaining a professional appraisal designation by a national appraisal society recognized by the Appraisal Foundation (ARA or MAI preferred).

5) Experience: Minimum of 8  years in real estate and chattel valuations preferred. Candidates with lesser qualifications yet having the desire and ability to achieve the level of Senior Appraiser II are also encouraged to apply.

11) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

12) Exceptional persuasive and interpersonal skills. 

13) Proficient in the use of PC, including e-mail, word processing and electronic spreadsheet software.


Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds required.  In the course of conducting inspections, must
have the ability to walk ½ mile, navigate steep terrain and/or construction sites and safely cross fences.   Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
